Finite Element Modeling on Deep Drawing for Truck Oil Tank Cover Plate of Aluminum Magnesium Alloy

    • With the oil tank cover plate of truck made from AA5754 aluminum magnesium alloy as research object, the deep drawing process of this oil tank cover plate was simulated by DYNAFORM software, and the effects of blank thickness, die clearance and blank holder force on the maximum thinning rate was studied. The simulated results were verified by experimental results. The results show that the maximum thinning rate increased with the increase of the blank thickness and blank holder force, while decreased with the increase of the die clearance. The relative error between simulated and experimental value of maximum thinning rate and maximum thickening rate was 7.85% and 9.48% respectively, verifying the accuracy of the numerical simulation. Additionally, the blank thickness was decreased from 3 mm to 2.5 mm by the finite element simulation.
